UTSAV 2024: Second Day celebration at, Mount Rosary English Medium High School, Santhekatte

Udupi, 29 November 2024: The second day of Utsav 2024, the annual school day celebration of Mount Rosary English Medium High School, unfolded as an eventful day, shining a spotlight on the school’s holistic approach to education, achievements across domains, and the strong partnership between students, teachers, and parents  on Thursday, 28th November, 2024.

 

Opening and Welcome

The day commenced with arrival of Guests and dignitaries in an attractive procession led by School band from the School to open stage ground, followed by an inspiring welcome address by the school correspondent, Rev. Dr. Roque D’Souza, who acknowledged the efforts of all stakeholders in making Mount Rosary a centre of excellence.  

 

Chief Guest Prof Archibald Furtado, Member - CESU, Rev Fr Oliver Nazareth Assistant parish Priest, Rev Sr Jane Joseph, SRA, Superior Goretti Convent, Sr Ancilla Roshni DMello, Headmistress of the MREM School, Mr Luke DSouza, VP of Pastoral Council, Mr Baptist Dias, Member School Governing Council, Mr Nagaraj LV, President PTA, SPL of the School Akshtha, other dignitaries, parents, and guests were warmly welcomed with floral greetings, setting a tone of gratitude and celebration.

 

Comprehensive Annual Report

The Headmistress, Rev. Sr. Ancilla Roshni D’Mello, presented a detailed annual report, capturing the essence of the school’s journey over the past year. The report showcased the institution’s commitment to providing a well-rounded education and nurturing students’ potential in academics, sports, culture, and social responsibility.

 

1. Academic Achievements

The school’s Class X students achieved outstanding 100% results in SSLC, for a consecutive 7th year in the board exams, with several students scoring distinctions.

 

Special mention was made of the toppers who brought pride to the institution through their exceptional performance.

 

Regular mentoring sessions, remedial classes, and personalized coaching were highlighted as key contributors to this success.

 

2. Sports and Physical Development

Students excelled in various sports competitions at the district, state, and national levels, with many bringing home medals and trophies.

 

The school’s emphasis on physical fitness, through training programs in athletics, team sports, and martial arts such as Karate, was a significant focus.

 

3. Cultural Activities

The school conducted numerous intra-school and inter-school cultural events, encouraging students to explore their talents in dance, drama, music, and art. Highlights included participation and victories in regional and state-level cultural competitions.

 

4. Social Responsibility Initiatives

Mount Rosary continued its tradition of instilling social values through programs like tree plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, and visits to old-age homes.

 

Students actively participated in awareness campaigns on pollution and environmental conservation, reflecting the school’s commitment to building responsible citizens.

 

5. Intra and Extra-Curricular Activities

A wide range of intra-school competitions in debating, quiz, essay writing, and science exhibitions encouraged creativity and critical thinking.

 

The school’s robust club activities, including the – Scouts and Guides,  Science Club, Eco Club, and Literary Club, provided platforms for students to hone their skills beyond academics.

Students’ Success Stories

The report also highlighted inspiring success stories of students who overcame challenges to achieve greatness. Their stories reflected not only individual perseverance but also the unwavering support of the teachers and parents.

 

Special Achievements of Teachers

The Headmistress took pride in acknowledging the dedicated efforts of the teachers who consistently guided students toward excellence. Several teachers received recognition at Taluk, District and state-level educational forums for their innovative teaching methods and contributions to curriculum development.

 

Role of Parents and CESU Guidelines

The report lauded the parents for their active involvement and support in the educational journey of their children. The Headmistress also emphasized the guidelines and encouragement from Correspondent Rev Dr Roque DSouza, local Governing Council and CESU (Catholic Educational Society of Udupi), which played a pivotal role in shaping the institution’s vision and ensuring its smooth functioning.

 

Honouring ceremony and recognitions:

All the above achievers in various categories were specially recognised, appreciated on this very special day, which brought glory and fame to their Alma Mater Mount Rosary High School, as they were introduced to the audience senior Teacher Lavina beautifully handled the honouring ceremony with thundering rounds of applause, by the guests on stage.

All the donors and contributors too were called on stage to receive roses from Guest of honour Rev Fr Oliver Nazareth.

 

Chief Guest Address

The chief guest, Prof. (Rtd.) P. Archibald Furtado, was introduced to the audience by Teacher Mrs Sabitha Fernandes also honoured by draping of traditional shawl, bouquet and memento. 

 

In his address, Mr Furtado commended the school for its multifaceted approach to education. He highlighted the critical role of parents in nurturing the talents of their children and praised the school’s leadership for fostering a collaborative environment where students, teachers, and parents work together. While conveying greetings on behalf of CESU, to HM her exhaustive team, he informed that Mount Rosary School is one of the best rated reputed Schools in the Udupi Diocese under its management, which recorded stunning progress over the last 27 years since 1997…

 

Cultural Extravaganza and Highlights

The cultural program that followed added vibrancy to the event, featuring:

Thematic performances by students from Classes V to X, addressing topics like national unity, cultural diversity, and environmental sustainability - mesmerised, entertained, educated and took the huge gathering to a different world.

 

Karate demonstrations, showcasing students’ skills and the importance of self-defence.

 

A captivating short drama in Kannada, ‘Netra’, written and directed by teacher Alwyn Danti, which emphasized women’s empowerment and resilience.

 

The 3-hour cultural showcase, blending drama, music, and dance, reflected the students’ dedication and the teachers’ meticulous planning.

 

Vote of Thanks

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by a senior teacher, Vanitha Fernandes expressing gratitude to the Correspondent, CESU members, parents, and the school community and all the gathering for their unwavering support and encouragement.

 

The second day of ‘Utsav 2024’ was a memorable celebration of the school’s achievements and values. It reinforced the Mount Rosary English Medium High School’s reputation as a beacon of holistic education, where students are nurtured to excel in all spheres of life while upholding their moral and social responsibilities.
