Kannada Sahitya Parishad Kaup Unit Honours Santoor Vittal Joisa

Padubidri: The Kannada Parishad Kaup Unit of Udupi District Kannada Sahitya Parishad honoured retired teacher, senior thinker and agriculturist Vedamoortthy Vittala Jois at his residence at Santoor on Monday, 25 November 2024 as part of the Kannada Month observation with the theme of “Let us step towards the elders”.
Hari H. Principal of Mulki Rama Krishna Poonja Industrial Training Centre, Thkuru highlighted the finer qualities of Vittal Joisa.
Presdient of Udupi District Kannada Sahitya Parishad, Neelavara Surendra Adiga said that in the district so far 144 such felicitation programmes have been held. All the felicitated persons have contributed immensely to the development and promotion of Kannada language, culture and literature.
Replying to the honour Vittal Jois narrated the important landmarks in his life and conveyed his gratitude to his students and the Kannada Sahitya Parishad for recognising and honouring him.
Pundalika Marathe, President of the Kannada Sahitya Parishad Kaup Unit presided the felicitation programme. District Rajyotsava awardee Girish Palimar, Devadas Hebbar, Raghavendra Bhat, Padmanabha Bhat and Raghupati Bhat conveyed their messages on this occasion. Other dignitaries on the dais included: Ravi Shetty Pilaru, Gunakar Poojary, Ravindra Prabhu, Balachandra Shety, Shivarama Bhandary, Yashoda Poojary, Manohar P, Narasimha Moorthy, Shubhakar Shetty, Prakash Shetty Santoor, Subramanya Bhat, Padmanabha Joisa and Parashuram.
Head Master of Govt. High School and member of the KSP Kaup Unit Pilaru Sudhakar Shenoy made introductory remarks. Devadas Patkar Mudarangady read the citation. B. Ramakrishna Bhat compered the programme. KSP Honorary Secretary Ashwin Lawrence proposed the vote of thanks. Swati, Rajashree and Prerana recited the prayer.
