ICYM Moodubelle Unit Organizes Various Sports and Games in View of Golden Jubilee Celebrations

Udupi/M’Belle: The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Unit of St. Lawrence Parish, Moodubelle will be celebrating its Golden Jubilee on 08 December 2024 at the Parish Hall. In view of this grand celebration, the ICYM members with the guidance of the Parish priest Fr. George D’Souza, Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Rikson Monteiro, ICYM Animator Mrs. Shanati Alva and Youth Commission Coordinator Valerian Noronha organized various sports and games for the entire parish comprising of 23 Wards which were divided into 4 Groups consisting of 6 wards in three Groups and 5 Wards in one Group. These Groups are: Team Titans led by Denis Martis; Dynamic Duo led by Joseph Martis; Team Mercy led by Ivan Menezes; and Rising Stars led by Nevil D’Souza.

 

The various sports and Games were held on first three Sundays of November. The entire phase of the Sports and Games Tournament was named as “Moodubelle Premier League Season I” (MPL) which was inaugurated at 09 am on Sunday, 01 November 2024 in the PU College Quadrangle. Fr. George D’Souza, Fr. Rikson Monteiro, Pritiesh D’Sa-Vice President of the PPC, Charles Quadros-Secretary of the PPC,  Immanuel Cornelio-former PT Teacher of St. Lawrence High School, Moodubelle, Mrs. Shanti Alva-Ani,ator of ICYM, Valerian Noronha-Coordinator of the Youth Commission, Viana Fernandes-President of the ICYM, leaders of the four teams and the participants were present. Immanuel Cornelio inaugurated the MPL Season I at the Dodge Ball court.

 

On Sunday, 01 November 2024 Sports Day was observed with Athletic events such as 100 meters race; Shot Put and Discus Throw for both males and females in the morning and games such as Dodge Ball for both males and females in the afternoon as well as Photography competition and WhatsApp Status in the evening. The participants for Athletic events were divided into five groups.  While individual winners were declared in Athletic events, team winners were declared following the Dodge Ball team game.

 

Dodge Ball Tournament: Males: First Place-Dynamic Duo; Second Place-Team Titans. Females: First Place- Dynamic Duo; Second Place-Team Mercy.

 

On Sunday, 10 November 2024 the exciting four overs each tennis ball cricket match was held in league system in the afternoon from 02.30 pm in the PU College Ground. Fr. George D’Souza and Fr. Rikson Monteiro inaugurated the Cricket League Tournament. Following the end of the tournament he following teams were declared as winners. First Place-Team Titans; Second Place-Dynamic Duo.

 

On Sunday, 17 November 2024 the following competitions were held: A. Husking of Coconuts B. Weaving of coconut palms and C. Quiz Competition.

 

In the Weaving of Coconut Palms the First Place was held by Dynamic Duo and Second Place was held by Team Mercy. In the Quiz Competition the First Position was held by Team Titanic and Second Position was held by Rising Stars.

 

Besides these competitions there was also a fun game “Breaking of hanged pot” by blindfolded individuals.
