“Education that is restricted to grades is not enough”-Dr. P V Bhandary

Karkala, 06 sept 2011: Because of the modern education pressure there is more stress on everyone which ahs given rise of various diseases such as diabetes and blood pressure and also other physical and mental ailments. Those teachers who have crossed 40 years of age should compulsorily should go for thorough medical check up. Only healthy teachers would be in a position to provide quality education to the students. Education should cater not only to increase the grades of the students but also help in developing their overall personality and ability. As such education that is restricted to grades is not enough, said eminent psychiatrist, Dr. PV Bhandary, Director of Dr. AV Baliga Group of Institutions.  He was speaking at the Teachers Day Celebration organized by the Karkala Taluk Teachers Samiti at Bahubali Pravachana Mandira on Monday, September 5, 2011.
H Gopala Bhandary, MLA of Karkala who presided over the programme said that there is a possibility of confusion in the ducational field due to political decisions. The country is becoming self sufficient in various fields. For this the education is responsible. Parents expect value based education to their children.

 

 
Businessman Rocky D’Silva of Belman, who had donated Rs.50,000/- for the celebration of Teachers Day was honoured by the MLA. Speaking at this occasion he promised that he would donate additional Rs.50,000/- towards instituting awards to honour Best Teachers of the Karkala Taluk.


 At this function, teachers who have been selected as the Best Teachers at the District level were felicitated. These teachers included: Kuntini Bhaskar Shetty of Hirgan, Ajit Kumar Jain of Karkala and Mrs. Geeta of Kukkunduru. Also 21 teachers who have retired this year were also honoured.


This years best schools award was given to: Govt High School Kalya, Gangamma Aided High School Borkatte, Govt Higher Primary School Hosmar, Govt Primary School Paithala Andaru and SVT Aided Higher Primary School Karkala.
The anthology of poems written by Shaila B Lali, teacher in the Bajagoli Govt PU College was released by MLA H. Gopla Bhandary. The picture of Dr. sarvapalli Radhakrishnan painted by her was unveiled by Regional education Officer-K. Ravi Shankar.


Jayaram Salian-President of the Karkala Taluk OPanchayat, Vice President, Ravindra Kumar, Municpal Council President Pratima Mohan, Zilla Panchayat member Manjunatha Poojary, Suprit Shetty, Karkala Tahshildar Jagannath Rao, Karkala Zone Nodal Officer Jahnavi and other dignitaries were present for the programme.
