All India Inter Zone Inter University Chess Championship 2024 Inaugurated at Manipal Academy of High

Manipal, 16 Feb 2024: The prestigious All India Inter Zone Inter University Chess Championship 2024 was inaugurated at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), in a grand ceremony held at the Dr. TMA Pai Hall, KMC, Manipal. This momentous event, held from the 16th to the 17th and 18th of February 2024, marks a significant milestone in the promotion of intellectual sports within the academic community. The championship, which commenced with an inaugural event on the 16th of February 2024, is organized in collaboration with the Association of Indian Universities.

 

The inauguration was graced by the presence of Dr. H.S. Ballal, Pro Chancellor of MAHE, serving as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Sharath K Rao, Pro Vice Chancellor - Health Sciences, MAHE, as the Guest of Honour. Their presence underscored the institution’s commitment to fostering a spirit of intellectual competition and camaraderie among universities across India. Dr. H.S. Ballal highlighted the importance of the event, stating, "Hosting the All India Inter Zone Inter University Chess Championship at MAHE is a proud moment for us. It reflects our dedication to promoting intellectual sports that enhance strategic thinking and sportsmanship among students.  Dr. Sharath K Rao echoed the sentiment of promoting intellectual sports, emphasizing the value of chess in nurturing critical thinking and academic excellence. "The championship brings to light the critical role of chess in academic and personal development, showcasing exceptional talent and dedication. With over 100 participants from universities across India, including 6 International Masters and 4 Grandmasters, the championship is not just a testament to the strategic depth of chess but also to the high level of competition and talent it attracts," he remarked.

 

 

The All India Inter Zone Inter University Chess Championship 2024 serves as a platform for young minds from various universities across different zones to showcase their strategic acumen.
