Mumbai: St. Joseph’s Association celebrates “Konkani Diwas”

Mumbai, 22 August 2011: St. Joseph’s Konkani Welfare Association Mira Road celebrated Konkani Diwas on Sunday 21st August 2011.  The programme started with welcome Dance.  Mr. William Machado, Dramatist, Fr. Ivan D’Souza, Fr. Dominic Vaz, Mr. John Crasta (President of Assocation), Mrs. Sofia D’Sa (Secretary), Mr. Lawrence Mathias (Treasurer) were on the dias.  Mr. John Crasta welcomed the guests and the audience.

 

 

Mr. William Machado, Senior Konkani drama actor, was honored by the Association.  Spiritual Director of the association and the President of the programme, Fr. Dominic Vaz spoke on the occasion and gave a meaningful message on Konkani Language.  Fr. Ivan D’Souza spoke on "Konkani in today’s youth life and future of Konkani".  The children who scored high marks in 10th and 12th Standard were honored.

 

After the stage programme, a variety entertainment programme which included various Konkani Dances by children, jokes / skits and melodious songs by the association members were presented.  Mr. Hilary D’Silva (Prasanna Niddodi) compeered the programme.  Mrs. Sofia D’Sa proposed vote of thanks.
