Unique HIV Collage Making Competition organised by NSS at Milagres College

Udupi, 02 Dec 2023: On 1st December NSS unit arranged a Collage Making inter-class competition on the theme of the HIV awareness Program. The program commenced at 3:00 PM at Silver Jubilee Hall of the College.
Approximately 130 students, faculty members, and support staff participated in the program.
‘The HIV Collage Making Program’ was initiated to create a visual narrative that would effectively communicate the multifaceted aspects of HIV/AIDS to promote awareness and understanding among diverse audiences.
Careful consideration was given to selecting a range of images representing different facets of HIV/AIDS, including prevention, treatment, stigma, support, and empowerment. The images were sourced from reputable sources, ensuring accuracy and sensitivity to cultural diversity.
The collage was strategically designed to evoke emotions and engage viewers. The arrangement of images was deliberate, aiming to convey a coherent and impactful message. Colours, typography, and additional elements were incorporated to enhance visual appeal and convey both concern and the seriousness of the subject.
The collage effectively conveyed vital information about HIV/AIDS. Viewers were able to grasp the complexities surrounding HIV/AIDS through the visual storytelling approach adopted in the presentation.
Upon interaction with the collage, audience feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed a cohesive understanding of the challenges faced by individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Some noted a shift in their perceptions, recognizing the need for increased awareness and empathy towards those affected by the virus.
The HIV Collage Making Program proved to be an impactful tool for spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS. Visual storytelling through the collage facilitated a deeper connection and understanding among viewers, emphasizing the importance of empathy, support, and continued education in combating the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS.
This project was a profound learning experience, emphasizing the power of visual communication in initiating meaningful conversations and fostering empathy. The process reinforced the significance of responsible image selection and thoughtful design in conveying sensitive topics effectively.
Attached to this report are visual representations of the collage, exhibiting the culmination of efforts to illuminate the importance of HIV/AIDS awareness through a creative and compelling visual medium.
The NSS officers, Mrs. Anupama Jogi and Prof Ganesh Nayak, the convener of an Eco Club, Mrs. Rekha U, and the Public Relation Officer (PRO) Ravinandan Bhat were present.
Mrs. Annamma, Professor, Department of Economics and Mrs. Amrita Lewis, Office In-charge were the judges of the competition and they expressed their opinions during the program.
