Mumbai, 01 Jul 2023: Representatives from Minority Groups, Christian Organizations & Tribal Leaders submitted Memorandum to the Honourable President of India through the Honourable Governor of Maharashtra regarding the Manipur Violence.

For Nearly more than two months we have witnessed a great human tragedy unfolding in the hilly & forest regions of Manipur. It has uprooted thousands of people and left a deep wound in the conscience of our country.

The unprecedented violence between the ethnic groups has devastated the lives of people of the state and has uprooted the homes and forced then to free their places. It is learnt that there has been an engineered campaign that are caused by people doing drugs, arms and political power.

The people are suffering and fearing for their lives and to add to that there has been a total shutdown of Internet services in the State. It is very heartbreaking to see our Brothers and Sisters turned against each other.

The traditions in Manipur for decades have been to embrace people of all ethnic groups religious and backgrounds. It takes tremendous courage to foster brotherhood but only one mistake to fan the feelings of hatred and violence. More than 200 places to worship have been destroyed. The Prime Minister has chosen not to speak or address the problems taking place in Manipur. The Home Minister visit to the violence ridden State has not resulted fostering Peace & Harmony, hence it is our humble request to convey our feelings to the President of India to dissolve the Government and declare Presidents Rule for immediate stop of violence of hatred.

Manipur continues to burn displacing 12 thousand plus people as the centre fails to provide any help despite several Pleases.

Ex. Minister Minority & Affairs Govt. of Maharashtra Nasim Khan, Former Vice Chairperson State Minority Commission Smt. Janet Dsouza, Ex. Principal St. Xaviers High School Rev. Fr Simon Lopes, Parish Priest, St. Stephens Church Rev. Fr Jacob Thomas was present.
