Mangaluru, 04 Jan 2023: ‘Research must be given a top priority by the higher academic institutions,’ said N Vinay Hegde, Chancellor, Nitte (Deemed to be University) here recently.

He delivered a presidential address in the Annual Research Appreciation Day – 2022 program organized by The Research and Development Directorate of the Nitte (Deemed to be University).

‘Teaching and learning is the traditional process of higher academic institutions. This must be the soul of the institutions. But research is the need of the hour. This will enable the institutions to give the state-of-the-art knowledge to the students. So, the role of researchers at the universities is immense,’ he said.

Prof Dr B Unnikrishnan, Dean, KMC, Mangaluru participated as the chief guest and honored the best researchers of the Nitte (DU). He advised, ‘The research must be a slow and steady process, and it should also have interdisciplinary collaborations. Research made in hurry at single center will not give a good yield, instead a calm and composed research done in collaboration may give better societal results. The urgent needs of society shall be fulfilled by fast attempts. But it should never mislead the society.’

Prof Dr B Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice-Chancellor, Nitte (Deemed to be University) participated as the guest of honor. He said, “Nitte DU is dedicated to the field of interdisciplinary research and we are giving full support to all the research activities. The university believes in quality and committed research”.

Prof Dr Praveen Kumar Shetty, director, Research and Development welcomed the guests and gave an insight into the research activities of the university.

Prof Dr Harsha Halahalli, Registrar, Nitte (Deemed to be University) announced and congratulated the best researchers of the University. Prof M S Moodithaya, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Nitte (Deemed to be University) was present.

On the occasion, the Best Researcher of the University was presented to Dr Mamatha BS, Assistant Professor.
