Hore Kanike offered to St. John’s Church by various communities in Shankerpura

Udupi, 13 Dec 2022: As part of the Centenary Celebrations of the St. John Evangelist Church, Shankerpura, a Ann Santharpane (Meals for all people of Shankerpura) is organized on Thursday 15th December 2022. For this purpose, the Pangla Parish requested for Hore Kanike (gifts in the way of vegetables) from the public associations and organizations of Shankerpura and other Shirva deanery parishes. Also all wards of the Pangla Parish too contributed for this purpose. The response was massive and today all the parishioners and all the associations, clubs willingly donated large number of food items as a Hore Kanike.
The Hore Kanike Procession began at Salmara which was flagged off by Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, Parish priest of St. John’s Parish accompanied by Rev. Fr. Anil Pinto and Rev. Fr. Vijai D’Souza (Assistant Parish Priests), John Rodrigues (VP-Parish Council), Anitha D’Souza (Secretary, Parish Council) and other dignitaries.
The Hore Kanike was transported in 21 Autorickshaws (representing all wards of the parish) and a few Tempos along with parishioners and well wishers. Those who contributed to the Hore Kanike were Rotary Club Shankerpura, Inner-Weal Shankerpura, Autorickshaw owners association, Tempo Owners associations, Billawa Community, Lions Club Subhasnagar and all Shirva Deanery Parishes namely Shirva, Pernal, Pillar, Pamboor and Mudarangadi Parish.
All the vehicles were received in order at the church compound and all the contributors were felicitated by Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves.
Fr. Ferdinand thanked all the donors of Hore Kanike and invited them all for the Anna Santharpane meal (Lunch) to be held on Thursday, 15th December.
The entire event was organized by the Centenary Core Committee successfully.
