Udupi: Free Eye Checkup Camp Organized in Lions Club, Moodubelle

Udupi/M’Belle, 18 Sep 2022: In the Silver Jubilee Year, the Lions Club, Moodubelle organized 21st Free Checkup Camp in the Lions Seva Bhavan on Sunday, 18 September 2022 from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm in association with the Prasad Netralya, Uudpi, Catholic Sabha Unit and Health Commission of St. Lawrence Parish, Moodubelle.
Prior to the camp, a brief stage programme was organized presided over by Ln. Commodore Jerome Castelino, President of the Lions Club, Mooddubelle. Other dignitaries on the dais included Dr. Krishna Prasad-Chief of the Krishna Prasas Netralaya, Udupi as the chief guest, Fr. George D’Souza-Parish Priest of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle as guest of honour, Dr. Satish from Krishna Prasad Netralaya, Udupi, Anil D’Souza-President of the Catholic Sabha, Moodubelle, Mrs. Jyothi D’Souza-Coordinator of the Health Commission of St. Lawrence Parish, Moodubelle, Leo Ethan Martis-President of the Leo Club, Ln. Devdas Hebbar-Secretary of the Lions Club and Ln. Elias Lobo-Treasurer.
Following the welcome address by Ln. Commodore Jerome Castelino, the dignitaries on the dais formally inaugurated the Free Eye Checkup Camp by lighting the lamp.
On this occasion, Sr. Victoria Lobo who has been serving in the Prasad Netralaya, Uudpi for over 30 years and who had been a regular staff in the Free Eye Checkup Camps organized by the Lions Club, Moodubelle for the past 21 years was felicitated by the dignitaries on the dais for her meritorious service.
Dr. Krishna Prasad, who had been to Gujarat to organize the Eye Camp on the occasion of the birthday of PM Narendra Modi on 17 September 2022, flew back to Bangalore and from there to Mangalore in the morning and directly came to the Lions Seva Bhavan to be part of the Free Eye Checkup Camp. In his message, Dr. Krishna Prasad appreciated the service rendered by Ln. Commodore Jerome Castelino to the Indian Navy and the Lions Club, Moodubelle which is in the 25th year of its existence. He expressed his happiness for being a partner with the Lions Club, Moodubelle for the past 21 years in conducting the Free Eye Checkup Camp. He highlighted the importance of taking care of the eyes as they are an important organ in the human body. He said that Indian eye doctors are always one step ahead of the other eye doctors outside India.
Ln. Devdas Hebbar proposed the vote of thanks and also compered the programme.
Dr. Krishna Prasad personally checked the eyes of a number of persons. Some of the patients were adviced cataract operation which will be conducted at the Krishna Prasad Netralaya, Udupi at free of charge. Those who require spectacles will be provided the same at highly subsidized rate.
135 persons took advantage of the Free Eye Checkup Camp.
