Udupi, 10 Oct 2021: Rotary Club International (RCI) is a union of likeminded people who are embodied with social service. It’s in Rotary Clubs that social welfare activities are focussed on health, education, farming, environment and humanity. It does several social welfare programmes continuously like the federal governments, said M G Ramachandramurti Shivamogga, district governor of RCI district 318 Z.

 

Ramachandramurti was speaking after felicitating retired teachers and distinguished achievers during a function held at Rotary Bhavan, Bantakal, near here on Friday, October 8.

 

The zonal vice governor Dr Arun Hegde released the Club bulletin, Mallika, edited by Raghupati Ithal.

 

 

The zonal commandant Anil D’Sa conveyed best wishes for the programme.

 

The retired teacher Hilda Saldanha Pamboor, Hindu High School head teacher Shakila, Nitte Engineering College lecturer who bagged Ph D recently Dr Ram P Marate and Shirva – St Mary’s College Professor Vittal Nayak were felicitated during the programme.

 

The Corona warriors Giridar Prabhu Shirva and Ramesh Poojary were also honoured on the occasion.

 

The oath was administered for new RCI members Dinesh Kulal and Prashob.

 

Raphael Mathias, Ronald Sequeira, Honnayya Shettigar, Philip Castelino, Michael Mathias, Amit Aranha, Jagdish Hegde and Vishnumurti Saralaya introduced the distinguished individuals.

 

Rotary Cub Shirva president Jayakrishna Alva welcomed the gathering. The secretary Jinesh Ballal proposed the vote of thanks. Sudhakar Shenoy compered the gathering. Kodu Sadanand Shetty and Raghavendra Nayak assisted in the programme.

 

The distric governor inaugurated the newly-launched Interact Club at Hindu PU College and High School, Shirva, unveiled the signboard at Shirva – Vidyavardaka High School, newly-laid circle at the junction of Shirva town, linking Katpady and Kaup, newly-built L Mendonca Memorial Bus stand, released the bulletin, Vidyasetu, brought out by the Class X students of St Mary’s High School, Shirva, distributed organic manure to farmers sponsored by RCI – community unit of Padoor, club assembly held at the residence of Dr N S Shetty Padoor Abbettuguttu, the newly-built Siddi Vinayaka temple by Gabriel Nazaareth, Shirva.

 

The governor also visited Sri Durgaparameshwari temple, Bantakal, near here.
