Doha: Wilfy’s Konkani Sangeet Gharana to present 282nd ‘Wilfy Nite’ to mark Golden Jubilee

Doha/Qatar, 28 Sep 2021: Wilfy’s Konkani Sangeet Gharana, will be presenting 282nd ‘Wilfy Nite’ to celebrate 50 Glorious year of legendary Wilfy Nites and 50 years of ‘Konkan Kogul’ title on Friday, October 1 at 5:30pm Qatar time and 8.00pm Indian time.

 

Wilfy composed his first song in 1952, wrote a stage play in 1958, and performed his first music show in 1971. Wilfy was given the title Konkan Kogul by the Bishop of Mangalore at that time, the Late Basil D’Souza on 26 September 1971. From then on Wilfy has composed over 3,000 songs and presented 248 Wilfy Nites in his lifetime. After Wilfy’s death in 2010, wife Meena Rebimbus together with children Veena Rebimbus Pais and Vishwas Rebimbus continued wilfy’s legacy and continuously presented ‘wilfy nites’ year by year.

 

 

Speaking to the news Veena Rebimbus revealed that ‘this 282nd Wilfy Nite will be giving essence of 1st Wilfy Nite that happened in 1971, and this time the renowned 19 voices from Qatar will come together to recreate the magic of 1st Wilfy Nite’. It will be a big family entertaining event for wilfy’s song lovers and a grand tribute to legendary singer Wilfy’. The songs that were sung for the 1st Wilfy Nite many of them will be presented yet again keeping the flavor of the 70’s. The singers who were present for 1st Wilfy Nite will share their memories. Audience will get to listen to the Original Audio clippings of a few songs sung at the 1st Wilfy Nite. Over and above Wilfy’s Konkani Sangeet Gharana promises a great memorable evening on October 1. Wilfy’s Konkani Sangeet Gharana run by Veena Rebimbus Pais, daughter of Wilfy Rebimbus promotes Wilfy’s Konkani Songs and his literary works.
