Udupi, 08 Sep 2021: Especially for Children and youth, the two great seasons in the year, make them enjoy, rejoice, pray and frequently visit and roam around the church, are Christmas in December and Monthi festh in September every year. This year’s Monthi Feast in Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte – Kallianpur was really unique for several reasons.
Hereunder are just few highlights of the celebrations and readers are most welcome to browse the Photo-album for a close and detailed look:
• At 7.30 am children with flower basket assembled in the courtyard of Mount Rosary High School.
• Parish Priest Rev Dr Leslie C DSouza, lead the prayers and briefed about of days celebrations.
• 7.40 am as the choir sung ‘Moriyaek Hogollsuyan’ children and youth offered flowers in honour of Baby Mary, in front of her well decorated cradle.
• 7.50 am the colourful procession to the church, School Band, Palkin carrying Infant Mary, New paddy bundles - to celebrate the thanksgiving High Mass.
• 8.00 am Rev Fr Steven Fernandes, the assistant parish priest was the main celebrant of the Holy Eucharist, in his introduction beautifully highlighted the importance of the feast…..and welcomed the congregation….
• 8.10 am Guest priest Rev Fr Gerald Sandeep DMello, in his sermon, devoutly broke the word to explain the greatness of the Mother of the church, patroness of both the Diocese and our parish, our own mothers, honour to girl child….. importance of farmers etc…. as the feast is not just a birthday…. but an opportunity to revive our cultural roots and an occasion for religious awakening in the western coast of Karnataka, especially among Konkani Catholics…..
• 9.05 As the Holy Mass was concluded with solemn blessings, Parish Priest Rev Dr. Leslie C DSouza, conveyed festal greetings to all and also thanked each and everyone who made the celebration a great grand success during past 9 days of novena and today feast day…..….He blessed the new rice of the season Novem, which was later served to all the gathering.
• 9.10 am the Church Website – www. Mountriosary.com was rededicated with added features by Vicar and other dignitaries.
• 9.15 am Prizes were distributed to the winners of Rozaricho Gaanch Quiz; the Pirgent was honoured with a Candle as a symbol of gratitude’s.
• 9.20 am New Kannshi was distributed to the Office bearers & members of the Parish Pastoral Council, Finance Committee, and all Gurkars of the wards and handed over to them the bundles to distribute to all parishioners.
• 9.30 am All children were presented with packets comprising goodies, sweets and Sugarcane.
• 9.45 am – The Monthi Feast Celebrations in the Church was officially over to have the family feast at their individual homes.
It was heavily raining throughout the night however, it was a divine blessing both during the showering of the flowers and followed procession and while concluding the ceremony there was absolutely no disturbance of rain as the whole parish involved in thanking Mother Mary and seeking Almighty Lords blessings through her intercession.
