Mangaluru: Lions Club Mangalore Centurion organizes Blood Camp in city; donates 70 units to IRCS

Mangaluru, 17 Mar 2021: Lions Club Mangalore Centurion organized a blood camp in collaboration with DK district Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) at Rao & Rao Circle, here on Wednesday, March 17.
Sadiq, chairman of Taj Group of Companies inaugurated the programme here on Wednesday morning.
Geetha R Shetty, region chairperson of Lions Club district 317 D; Mangaluru former mayor K Ashraf; Abdul Jaleel Krishnapura, Karnataka state SDPI secretary were the chief guests present.
Speaking on the occasion, Geetha Shetty lauded the humanitarian services of Voice of Blood Donors® that was founded by enterprising youth Abdul Rauf Bunder with co-founder NRI entrepreneur Farhan Sadaat in city 3 years ago. It has created history by collecting over 3,000 units of blood by organizing camps across DK district. Their zeal for humanity is exemplified in donating rice to needy especially during Ramadan and clothes to destitute women at Sevaashram, Balma village, Deralakatte, here besides helping the poor with medical expenses, dialysis of needy patients regardless of faith and other social welfare activities.
Ashraf said that the youths who aspire for better society have set an example for others to be involved in social welfare activities.
Govardhan Shetty, chief mentor of Lions Club Mangalore Centurion motivated the youth to be role model for others as donating blood is a noble deed that saves lives of accident victims and those who need blood transfusion.
Abdul Jaleel Krishnapura conveyed best wishes for the youth for their social concern.
B K Imtiyaz, honorary president, Mangaluru city street vendors Association and DK district IRCS medical officer Dr J N Bhat, Lions Club members were also present.
The Voice of Blood Donors® founder president Abdul Rauf presided the programme.
Ustad Irshad Darimi Mittabail offered dua to begin the programme.
Seventy units of blood was collected during the camp.
Lions Club District 317 D recognized the Voice of Blood Donors® endeavor for social welfare activities by launching Lions Club Mangalore Centurion during December 2020 by district governor Dr Geethprakash. They are fully integrating with their new entity as youth are the asset of our country.
