Mangaluru: Enterprising youths of Voice of Blood Donors® get boost for social welfare activities

Mangaluru, 28 Feb 2021: The youths of today belongs to a rare breed of budding entrepreneurs who are also take keen interest in social welfare activities. Despite their own challenges in business, they do committed to noble deeds such as voluntary blood donation, helping the poor in getting medical aid, distributing ration-kits to poor regardless of faith, caste and creed in the society by pooling the resources among themselves.

 

Meanwhile, among a rare breed of such entrepreneurs in the business hub of Old Bunder, an enterprising young entrepreneur Abdul Rauf Bunder founded The Voice of Blood Donors® (VOBD), along with co-founder NRI entrepreneur Farhan Sadaat with several members comprising youths belonging to different faiths who are united for serving the humanity. It’s an apolitical group who are available on call for their passion of donating blood.

 

 

VOBD that was founded over 3 years ago has already become a household name in across the city. They have been serving the humanity without publicity. They have collected over 3,000 units of blood by organizing blood camps at all over the district of Dakshina Kannada. The blood banks of district unit of Indian Red Cross Society (ICRS), state-run district Wenlock Hospital and Lady Goschen Hospital, Father Muller Hospital, KMC Hospital, K S Hegde Hospital and other hospitals in the city had collaborated them in their endeavor.

 

Furthermore, the members of VOBD are also available for any distress call seeking their blood of specific group that may be in short supply in different blood banks in the city. It’s their mission to save lives. It’s significant that they have conducted blood camps in a bus during post Covid-19 to adhere to MOH norms in collaboration with Mangalore Tigers and City Street Vendors Association®.

 

VOBD also are the succor of poor and downtrodden as they had distributed tailoring machines to earn living, wheelchairs and walkers to sick and ailing, pay hospital bills of poorest patients, rations to flood victims and others during Ramadan, donate financial assistance to AIDS Rehabilitation Homes and clothes/daily necessities to Orphanages in the city. Innumerable needy people are the beneficiaries of their generosity. Its members sacrifice a share of their hard earned money that are pooled for these social welfare activities. Despite the testing times of Covid-19 pandemic, they carry on their humanitarian deeds.

 

VOBD opened a new chapter in December 2020 when their humanitarian activities were recognized by Lions Club International (LCI) by forming Lions Club Mangalore Centurian that was officially launched by Lions District 317 D governor Dr Geethprakash in city. NRI Farhan Sadaat as charter president, Abdul Rauf as 1st vice president, Rubiya Akthar as secretary and Mohammed Thouheed as treasurer of newly-formed Lions Club Mangalore Centurian. It was the milestone event in the history of Lions Club District 317 D gives major exposure to their humanitarian activities.

 

Lions Club Mangalore Centurian has plans of donating a dialysis unit to a hospital who also maintains it. It would serve the needy patients who cannot afford dialysis charges. Besides, they have plans to set up a Blood Collection Centre in collaboration with IRCS to provide blood @ subsidized rates to poor patients who need frequent transfusion especially children.

 

Lions Club Mangalore Centurian geared up with their zeal for social service most likely to get support from general public in their endeavor.
