Mangalore, 26 June 2011: Minister for Higher Education Dr V S Acharya has promised to take measures to solve the problems relating to Moolageni system.

Speaking at a conference of ‘Moolagenidaras’ (those under the Moolageni system) organised by Moolageni Okkalu Rakshana Vedike at Government Employees’ Association Hall on Sunday, he said the problems of Moolagenidaras has been persisting over the years. If at all Moolagenidaras had united and fought in the initial stage itself, then the scenario would have been different. Most of their problems would have been solved by now, he said.

He informed that the Legislative Assembly and Council have consented for the bill aimed at the protection of Moolagenidaras. A law to help Moolagenidaras will be enforced soon, he said.

MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik said initially there was a belief that the consent of the Assembly, the Council and the Governor were enough for framing the law.

But now several bills require the consent of the President to become the laws. It is a way of showing disrespect to the State government and the conspiracy behind it is quite visible, he said adding that Moolagenidaras should fight with unity to find solution to their problems.

“The nation needs to generate 34 percent of the revenue from the agricultural sector, 34 percent from the industrial sector and rest of the revenue from the service sector. But unfortunately the income generated from the agricultural sector is limited to 18 percent. It is due to lack of significance given to the farmers and agriculturists,” he said.
