St. John’s High School (Kannada Medium) Shankerpura releases school magazine ‘Jnana Deepa’

Udupi, 16 Mar: St. John’s Kannada medium High School Shankerpura released its first annual School magazine titled “Jnana Deepa” on 13th March 2020 at the Community Hall. The magazine was released by School Correspondent Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves accompanied by dignitaries on dais namely Ashwin Rodrigues (HM), Domian Noronha (PT and Editor of the magazine), John Rodrigues (VP, Parish Council), Anitha D’Souza (Secretary, Parish Council), Mark Vas (Former VP), Clara Mendonsa (Former HM) and Seema Margaret D’Souza (18 commissions).

 

Fr. Gonsalves while releasing the magazine said that since Ashwin Rodrigues has joined as the Head Master of the school, the St. John’s Kannada Medium High School as carved a name in itself for all the activities and many new ideas and creativity has been put in the place to ignite student’s academic achievements as well as excellence in sports and other fields. His continuous efforts and dedication to the school is recognized and well appreciated by students as well as teachers. The students all out performance in itself is the proof of his dedication and efforts he said.

 

The function began with a prayer by school students. HM Ashwin Rodrigues accorded a warm welcome to the dignitaries on dais and thanked the students and teachers who have worked in creating the Annual Magazine Jnana Deepa with creative designs, articles, paintings and news items with school information. He especially thanked Domian Noronha the editor of the magazine for his dedication in finalizing the magazine and put all his efforts in bringing out a best designed magazine.

 

 

He then felicitated all the guests on dais with roses. He also recognized former HM Mr. Mohandas Shetty, Mr. Sandeep Bangera (President, Rotary Club Shankerpura, Mr. Rayan Fernandes (President, Rotaract Club Subasnagar, Mr. Santosh (President (JCI) and sponsors of the magazine namely Mr. Kevin Noronha (Noronha Systems), Mr.Shashidar (Businessman), and guest teachers and media persons presented them with roses.

 

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Sandeep Bangera (President, Rotary Club Shankerpura) said that the St. John’s Kannada medium school is quite competitive and involved in loads of activities and no less than any English Medium schools. He wished the school all the best.

 

Mr. John Rodrigues (VP) praised the students and teachers for all the activities that are being conducted in the school be it academic, sports and extracurricular activities, the St. John’s Kannada medium school has achieved success in every field and promised his support in the coming years.

 

The Editor of the magazine Domian Noronha briefed on the magazine and he applauded them students and teachers for their valuable suggestions, articles to bring out a best Annual School Magazine Jnana Deepa. As the title suggests Light of Knowledge this magazine with shed light on knowledge and leads to enlightenment. He said it was the brain child of HM Ashwin Rodrigues and equally supported by all the teachers and students as well. He further said that a few selected sponsors have helped in covering the cost of the magazine and thanked them. The school has intension of publishing the annual issue every year if same support is given them. He specially thanked teacher Leena D’Souza for her efforts in arranging the sponsors for the magazine.

 

All the sponsors were felicitated by Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves with flowers and a copy of school magazine for their financial support.

 

Vijay Naik, Hindi professor proposed the vote of thanks.
