Br. Philip Noronha takes charge as the Principal of St. Lawrence EM High School, Moodubelle

Udupi/M’Belle, 29 Jan: Br. Philip Noronha(CSC), an experienced administrator took charge as the Principal of St. Lawrence English Medium High School, Moodueblle from Fr. Clement Mascarenhas on Wednesday, 29 January 2020 to be effective from 1 February 2020.

 

The brief function of installation of Br. Philip Noronha (CSC) as the Principal of St. Lawrence English Medium High School was held in St. Lawrence Parish Community Hall on Wednesday, 29 January 2020 at 10 am. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas presided, the outgoing principal and Correspondent of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions presided over the programme. Besides Br. Philip Noronha, other dignitaries on the dais included Gerald Fernandes-Vice President of Parish pastoral Council, Leeladhar Kamath-President of PTA, Mrs. Prima D’Souza-member of PTA and Elias D’Souza.

 

Following the prayer song by the students, Fr. Clement Mascarenhas said that as the Principal of the institution for the last year he had pleasant and happy experience. Due to the responsibilities as the Parish Priest and Correspondent of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions he may not be able to pay full attention as the Principal of St. Lawrence English Medium High School. Fr. Clement Mascarenahs further said that he was happy to introduce Br. Philip Noronha as the new Principal of St. Lawrence English Medium High School. As a mark of installing Br. Philip Noronha as the new Principal, Fr. Clement Mascarenhas offered him a bouquet of flowers to the applause of students and teachers.

 

On behalf of the parents PTA President Leeladhar Kamath and Mrs. Priya D’Souza also welcomed Br. Philip Noronha as the new Principal.

 

Teachers representatives welcomed Br. Philip Noronha as their new Principal by offering him flower bouquet. Student class representatives offered Br. Philip Noronha roses as a mark of respect and welcome.

 

Gerald Fernandes in his address narrated the service rendered by Fr. Clement Mascarenhas as the Parish Priest, Correspondent and Principal of St. Lawrence English Medium High School. He welcomed Br. Philip Noronha as the new Principal of the school.

 

In his message,  Elias D’Souza said that Br. Philip Noronha is not only his cousin but also his classmate. He said that with the vast experience as an administrator in various prestigious institutions, Br. Philip Noronha would be able to provide good leadership and would raise the institution to greater heights.

 

Students presented a felicitation song and a dance.

 

Mrs. Sandra Lobo welcomed the gathering, proposed the vote of thanks and compeered the programme.

 

 

About Br. Philip Noronha(CSC)

Born on 26 February 1966 in Moodubelle, Br. Philip Noronha joined the Religious Congregation of Holy Cross after completing SSLC in St. Lawrence High School. Later he continued his education and completed BA with History, Political Science and Economics as main subjects in 1989 from St. Joseph’s College, Bangalore. Having an aptitude in teaching, Br. Philip acquired B.Ed. degree from Annamalai University (1990-91) and completed Post Graduate(MA) in the subject of Political Science from Mysore University (1992-94).

 

 

Br. Philip Noronha has vast experience in administration and served in various institutions. He worked as Director and Administrator of Abhayadhama Human Development Centre at Whitefield, Bangalore from 1995 to 1996 and from 2002 to 2004; Director and Administrator of Jeevan Jyothi ITI, Honnavar, Karnataka from 1996 to 2002; Principal of Holy Cross PU College, Whitefield, Bangalore from 2004 to 2006; Registrar and Warden of St. Joseph’s College, Bangalore and college Hostel from 2006 to 2009; Head Master of Holy Cross School, Champhai, Mizoram from 2009 to 2010 and 2012 to 2013; Manager and Warden of St. Joseph’s College and College Hostel, Bangalore from 2010 to 2012; and Outreach Coordinator of St. Joseph’s Colleges ( BJES) from 2013 to 2017.

 

Besides serving various educational institutions in different capacities, Br. Philip Noronha has been interested in protecting environment from effectively containing the causes which harm the planet earth like pollution. He had joined hands with various NGOs in Bangalore in such activities. He has been also interested in carrier guidance and counseling and had helped college students in Bangalore on weekends. Br. Philip Noronha used to spend free time with destitute and old age people in various charitable homes and  centers.

 

Br. Philip Noronha believes in honesty and hard work aimed towards achieving the goals of life. He is committed to the cause and proactive in the team. He believes in improvising new techniques and methods in the realm of education which educates human mind and heart and service to the human kind.
