Doha: Konkani Community of Qatar celebrates Monti Fest with Mangalorean tradition

Doha/Qatar, 10 Sep: Konkani Community of Qatar celebrated Monti Fest at Our Lady of Rosary parish, here on Sunday, September 8.

 

The festal celebrations were preceded by 9-day novenas beginning from August 30.

 

The visiting clergy Fr Stephen Mascarenhas OFM Cap took the congregation on a spiritual journey during these 9-day novenas with his powerful and touching reflections on Word of God and role of Mother Mary in one’s life and family.

 

Fr Stephen Mascarenhas OFM Cap and Fr Anand Castelino OFM Cap concelebrated festal Eucharistic Celebration.

 

 

A melodious Mangalorean Konkani choir by St Cecilia’s Choir Group was highlight of the festal Eucharistic Celebration.

 

New paddy sheaves were blessed and distributed to the congregation after festal Eucharistic Celebration.

 

The children offered flowers in honor of Infant Mary by singing hymn ‘Sakkad Sangata Melyan Moryek Hogolsia after festal Mass.

 

Fr Anand Castelino OFM Cap delivered festal message to the congregation.

 

The gathering joined in Novem Jevan, a fellowship meal in traditional Mangalorean practice.
