Udupi: MLC murder conspiracy, two arrested

Udupi, 02 June 2011: Two people accused for conspiracy to kill Vidhana Parishath Member Kota Shrinivas Poojary have been arrested by police. The other two are absconded. The accused are identified as Raghavendra Mogaveera (27) of Nivane Grama, Hosanagara Taluk, Shivamoga District and Bashir Ibrahim (36) of Siddapura Grama, Kundapura. Police said that they had conspiracy inside the jail to kill Kota, making observation on his movements and were ready to attack him and kill in the deserted area.

 

 

From the arrested an Yamaha motor cycle with number plate KA-21-J-555, pictures of the surrounding areas of Kota Shrinivasa Poojary’s house, map, telephone numbers and photo’s have been taken into custody. The accused were suspiciously wandering in the beginning of May in Kotathottu and Manuru Grama, and they were gathering information on Kota Shrinivasa Poojary. During this time thinking that the two workers of Janatha Fish Mill at Padukere, Manuru Grama as they are from their side they revealed the matter of the conspiracy to murder. But once they came to know that these two workers are not from their side, they fled away.

 

This matter was informed to the Kota Police Station and the Police were in hunt for these accused. On Wednesday the two persons were wandering near Kotathottu Grama Panchayath and near the house of Kota Shrinivasa Poojary in the same motor bike, Kota Police got this information and when SI Mahesh Prasad and other police personnel reached the spot immediately, the accused were trying to flee, but the police managed to arrest them and subjected them to investigation. Then the conspiracy for murdering of Kota Shrinivasa Poojary was revealed.

 

From the investigation it is known that the accused Raghavendra Mogaveera who is imprisoned in Belgaum for the murder of his mother Kaveramma in Thrasi, Gangolli and Santhosh Poojary of Kota who was imprisoned in Hiriyadka jail for jewellery robbery in Udupi and Bashir made the conspiracy while they were in jail in Udupi and Belgaum in different time.

 

Among the accused, Bashir was jailed for 7 years by Udupi Sessions Court for raping a young woman in Hiriyadka police jurisdiction. While he was serving his jail term in Belgaum he appealed to High court and was released on bail. Later he contacted Santhosh Poojary in Udupi jail and from him gathered the information on Kota Shrinivasa Poojary and along with his friend Raghvendra Mogaveera wandering in Kota area for killing Kota Shrinivasa Poojary.

 

Kota Shrinivasa Poojary was usually moving around alone, the accused planned to mask their faces and kill him using swords, which was revealed during the investigation. But the reason for the conspiracy of killing Kota is yet to be revealed, said the police. In this case police have decided to take two more accused from the jail into custody for proceeding with the investigation. It was also known from the investigation that, among the accused Raghavendra Mogaveera is involved in the R.M.C. yard police station case and was imprisoned for 6 years.
