Udupi: Deputy Commissioner to launch Sugamya District Mahila Okkoota on Mar 10

Udupi, 08 Mar: At the joint aegis of Udupi diocesan Catholic Stree Sangatan and Sampada Udupi - Udupi district Mahila Okkoota will be launched during World Women’s Day celebration at Mathura Kala Bhavan, Kalsanka, here on Sunday, March 10 at 2.30pm.
Udupi DC Hebsiba Rani Korlapatti will launch Udupi district Mahila Okkoota, here on Sunday afternoon.
Udupi bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo will preside the programme.
Udupi diocesan vicar general Monsignor Baptist Menezes will conduct the prayer service.
The women and child welfare deputy director Gracy Gonsalves, women empowerment project (Cross) Bengaluru Karnataka state co-ordinator Sr Zita D’Souza and Anupama – Kannada monthly magazine chief editor Shahnaz will be the chief guests of the occasion.
Udupi diocesan Catholic Stree Sangatan established self-help-groups (SHGs) for women empowerment, while its 456 SHGs have 6,500 members and formed 50 federations. Its operating as Arpana Mahila Okkoota Karkala taluk, Bhavana Mahila Okkoota Kundapura – Byndoor taluk, Inchara Mahila Okkoota Kaup taluk, Ujwala Mahila Okkoota Brahmavara taluk, Sharadi Mahila Okkoota Udupi taluk. Meanwhile, the federation of all taluk Okkoota will be launched as Udupi district Sugamya Mahila Okkoota, stated the communiqué issued by diocesan president Janet Barboza.
