Udupi: Annual sports event of St. John’s Academic Institutions inaugurated at Shankerpura

Shankerpura, 29 Nov: The Annual Sports Event of St. John’s Educational Institutions was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Royson Fernandes (Assistant Parish Priest, St. John’s Church, Pangala) on 28th November, 2018 at the college ground. This sports event will be held from 28 to 30th November 2018.

 

The sports event began with an impressive March-Fast by all the students participating in the sports along with their respective house-leader holding their squad flags.

 

Prior to inaugural function all the guests of the day were welcomed with playing of school band. The guests included, Rev. Fr. Royson Fernandes (Chief Guest), followed by Rev. Fr. Vincent Coelho (Principal, St. John’s P. U. College, Shankerpura), Mr. Mohandas Shetty (HM, High School, Kannada Medium), Sr. Winfred D’souza (HM, St. John’s Primary, English Medium), Ms. Irine D’Souza (HM, Primary, Kannada Medium), Mr. Mark Vaz (VP Parish Council), Ms. Lenny D’Souza (PTA Pamboor),  Mr. John Rodrigues (Advisor), Mrs. Veena D’souza (Advisor), Ms. Linet D’Mello (Advisor), Jacinta Mendonca (Advisor)

 

The stage function began with a prayer followed by a hearty Welcome accorded by Ms. Lorina D’Souza.

 

 

The chief guest of the day Fr. Royson Fernandes addressing the students said that, to reach the goal, discipline and hard work is a must likewise, It is necessary in sports to gain victory. It can be applied to life as well. With discipline and hardwork we can achieve our life dreams.

 

Fr. Royson then inaugurated the sports event by sports flag hoisting and releasing balloons in the sky acompanied by all guests.

 

Vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Anusha D’Souza.

 

After the inaugural function, the sports Competition for the Kannada Medium students was held.

 

The competition will continue on 29th for English Medium Primary n High school n on 30th for the PU College.
