Udupi/M’Belle: Wilson Rodrigues inaugurates Annual NSS Camp of St. Lawrence PU College

Udupi/M’Belle, 11 Oct: Udupi Zilla Panchayat member, Wilson Rodrigues inaugurated the Annual Special NSS Camp of St. Lawrence PU College in the Church Aided Higher Primary School, Moodubelle on Thursday, 11 October 2018 at 3.30 pm by lighting the lamp along with other dignitaries on the dais-Principal Naveen Correa of St. Lawrence PU College who presided over the inaugural function, Mrs. Sujata Suvarana-memebr of Udupi Taluk Panchayat, Mrs. Ranjani Hegde-President of Belle Grama Panchayat, Sr. Irene Viegas-Headmistress of Church Aided Higher Primary School, Ms. Shruthi R-NSS Programme Officer and Sudeep Dhondya-NSS Student Leader.
In his message following the formal inauguration of the Annual NSS Camp, Wilson Rodrigues recalled his own student days in St. Mary’s College, Shirva and his experience as NSS volunteer. He called upon the students of the camp to follow the routine of the camp and participate in all the activities, both physical, intellectual and cultural.
Mrs. Sujata Suvaran, Mrs. Ranjani Hegde and Sr. Irene Viegas wished success to the camp and made an appeal to the students to cultivate discipline, leadership qualities and sense of social work.
In his presidential address, Principal Naveen Correa said that this year the NSS movement enters the fiftieth year of its existence at the national level. He further said that NSS Unit in St. Lawrence PU College was founded in 2005. Since then the NSS Unit has been developing into a responsible unit.
Joseph D’Souza welcomed the guests; Mrs. Shruthi R. proposed the vote of thanks and Dilip Kumar compeered the programme.
Around 50 NSS volunteers are attending the NSS Annual Special Camp from 11 October to 17 October 2018.
