USA Premiere of Noshibacho Khell in Houston, Texas; Next at New Jersey on Sep 9

Houston/Texas, 04 Sep 2018: Houston Konkan Catholic Association (HKCA) screened the long-awaited and popular Konkani movie ’Noshibacho Khell’ under the banner of Kyam Films, directed by renowned Bhojpuri director Harry Fernandes, written and produced by well-known playwright Henry D’Silva at the MATCH-Midtown Arts & Theatre Center Houston on August 26.
This was part of HKCA’s initiative to showcase the richness and heritage of the Konkani culture and language. It was a great opportunity for Konkani speaking communities to come together for a Sunday afternoon of entertainment and fun, and there was a joyous feeling of expectation and excitement in the air as young and old interacted and bonded with each other in true Konkan spirit.
The event began with a small felicitation for producer Henry D’Silva. HKCA Events director, Ronald Crasta thanked the audience for coming in large numbers from different parts of Houston to watch ‘Noshibacho Khell.’ Communications director, Allen D’Souza thanked sponsors Charles and Florin Pinto, Mervin and Sharon Pinto, Maxi and Christine Pereira and Max and Jessie Rasquinha for their generous contribution towards the screening of this movie. He then presented a Plaque of Appreciation to Producer Henry D’Silva for giving HKCA the opportunity to bring our Konkani speaking communities under one roof with this movie. Vice President, Maxim Pereira in keeping with Texan traditions presented Producer Henry D’Silva with a Cowboy Hat thereby giving him an authentic flavor of Texas. Producer Henry D’Silva briefed the audience on the making of the movie and related the many challenges and great odds he had to overcome to fulfil his lifelong dream of bringing a Konkani movie to the silver screen. He proudly shared that the movie received rave reviews and was an overwhelming success at every screening worldwide. He requested the audience to publicize the movie by word of mouth if they felt that it lived up to their expectations. He concluded by saying that he has another Konkani movie in the making, details of which will be released soon. The two and half-hour movie is set against the scenic backdrop of Mangaluru and Mumbai and evoked nostalgic memories in the audience. The performance by a fresh and talented cast, the foot tapping music and mesmerizing dances, the skillful cinematography and witty dialogues were greatly appreciated and enjoyed by all. Prince Jacob’s character in particular had the audience breaking into gales of laughter throughout the movie. Truly, it was a Sunday afternoon well spent in the company of people sharing the same roots, and as the audience traveled through the dizzying twists and turns of the wholesome family drama, it left every ardent Konkan there craving for more.
