Udupi: St Peter Ward II wins St Lawrence Trophy-2018, Moodubelle

Udupi, 18 Aug 2018: The ICYM unit of St Lawrence parish, Moodubelle, near here, organized St Lawrence Trophy 2018 at church premises on Independence Day, August 15 at 2.30 pm.

 

The event was inaugurated by the parish priest Fr Clement Mascarenhas. Jessica Mendonca, member of the ICYM Moodubelle unit welcomed the gathering.

 

In his inaugural address, Fr Clement encouraged the sportsmanship of Moodubelle parishioners. He said, ‘Work in unity, work as a team and be together and enjoy this beautiful evening.’

 

 

Thanksgiving ceremony was conducted by Christon Aranha, sports secretary of Moodubelle unit.

 

Fr Clement inaugurated the match by batting, while Vincent Fernandes, vice president of Moodubelle unit bowled.

 

Moodubelle parish council  secretary Latha D’Mello, ICYM director Fr Lawrence Cutinho, animators of ICYM Mooubelle unit Anita Alva and Valerian Noronha, ICYM president Joswin D’Mello, Denary president Vilton D’Souza supported the innings.

 

Umpiring was done by Bharath Shetty, Krishna Prasad Anil and Arun Poojary.

 

Final match was played between St Peter ward II and St John Baptist ward II, St Peter II won the match and St John Baptist II were the runner up.

 

Nevil D’Souza bagged the Man of the Series.
