Udupi: Annual Parish Feast Celebrated in Holy Cross Parish, Pamboor with devotion and gaiety

Udupi/Pamboor, 23 Dec 2017: As the culmination of the weeklong  Golden Jubilee celebration, the Annual Parish Feast was celebrated with devotion and gaiety  in the Holy Cross Church on Saturday, 23 December 2017 at 10 am. The chief celebrant of the Annual Parish Feast was Fr. Stany Tauro, Parish Priest of Our Lady of Health Church, Shirva and Dean of Shirva Deanery. The Homily was preached by Fr. Denis D’Sa, Parish Priest of St. Antony’s Church,Kuntalnagar and PRO of Udupi Diocese.

Prior to the solemn  annual parish feast mass, Fr. Paul Rego, Parish Priest of the Holy Cross Church, Pamboor distributed candles of honour to the office bearers of the Parish Pastoral Council, sponsors, donors and mud-dhoms.

At the commencement of the solemn annual feast mass, Fr. Stany Tauro in his introductory remarks said that the parishioners of the Holy Cross Church, Pamboor have been celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the foundation of their parish since the last one week and  this is the day when they give thanks to God for the good things that He had done to the parish during the last fifty years.

In his homily, Fr. Denis D’Sa said that  for the parishioners of the Holy Cross Church, Pamboor the annual feast is the penultimate day of celebration as they have been in celebratory mode for the last eight days beginning with the horekanike procession on last Saturday and and culminating in the annual parish feast on this Saturday. This is the day when Pamboorians should thank God for enabling them to renovate their church and renewing their faith. He further said that as the work of the construction of a new church has completed, the time has come to build the parish community. As the Christmas approaches we should look for Jesus in the crib, in our hearts and among our fellowmen. Helping the needy, building the family bond and forgiving those who have hurt us should be the guiding principles of our resolve to make the Jubilee Year a meaningful event in the life of the parish.

 

 

At the end of the solemn feast mass, Fr. Paul Rego expressed gratitude to all those who had been responsible in making the Golden Jubilee programs successful. He thanked Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo for blessing and dedicating the renovated church building, Bishop Aloysius P. D’Souza for concelebrating the Golden Jubilee Mass, all the donors, sponsors, Vice President and Secretary and Convener of  the 18 Commissions-Praksh Noronha, Mrs. Asuntha D’Souza and Mrs. Jacintha D’Souza respectively, Dr. Vincent Alva-Convener of the Golden Jubilee Committees, all the chairpersons of the Committees and members for their sincere work and all parishioners for their unstinted cooperation and support. He also thanked Fr. Stany Tauro the chief celebrant of the annual feast mass, Fr. Denis D’Sa for his excellent homily, Fr. Jephrin Monis for his contribution to the renovation of the church  and all the priests who had participated in the annual feast.
