Mumbai: Nakre Shyam Shetty conferred coveted Dr A P J Abdul Kalam Award

Mumbai, 21 Dec 2016: Nakre Balipaguttu Shyam N Shetty, hailing from Nakre in Karkala taluk of DK district, Karnataka and veteran hotelier, philanthropist and social activist bagged the coveted Dr A P J Abdul Kalam Award.
The award was conferred in recognition of Shyam’s contributions in promoting Kannada and its distinct culture and strengthening Tulu-Kannadiga Associations in Mumbai.
The Award was conferred to Shyam during 8th Akhila Karnataka Makkala Sahitya and Samskrutika Sammelan that was organized by Bharat Ratna Sir M Vishveshwarayya Engineering Pratistan Trust at Bengaluru recently.
Shyam is the past president of Bombay Bunts Association that is running prestigious education institutions in Navi Mumbai. He is also president of Navi Mumbai Restaurant Owners Assocation. He is serving as treasuere of Federation of Hotels and Restaurant Federation. He is contributing for religious celebrations at Mahalingeshwar temple in his hometown.
He had produced Kannada movie, Ivalenta Hendti, starring Anantnag-Tara-Mahalaxmi during 1988.
