Udupi: Navaratri & Sharada Mahotsav at Laxmi Venkatesh temple from Oct 1 to 12

Udupi, 24 Sep 2016: Navaratri and Sharada Mahotsav will be held at Sri Laxmi Venkatesh temple, from Saturday October 1 to Wednesday October 12. The preparations are underway to celebrate fourteenth annual Sharada Mahotsav with pomp and gaiety.

 

 

The idol of Goddess Sharada will be taken in a colorful procession from Jodukatte to the temple precinct here on Friday October 7. The installation ceremony of temple deity Goddess Sharada will be held at Sri Varadendra Kala Mandir, here on Saturday October 8 at 8.30am. The puja celebrations will be held at 12.45pm and 8.30pm.

 

The Durgadevi worship will be held on Sunday October 9 at 5.00pm. Vijayadashami will be celebrated on Tuesday October 11 morning. The auction of sari offerings to Goddess Sharada will be held in the afternoon and immersion of idol of Goddess Sharada will be held at 8.30pm. The mega procession for immersion of deity Goddess Sharada will be held on Wednesday October 12 in the main streets followed by immersion at Padma lake of the temple.

 

The cultural events will be held as part of Sharada Mahotsav. The students of Mukunda Krupa Primary School, here will present variety entertainment shows on Friday October 7 evening. The Mangaluru-based Sanatana Natyalaya will present music and dance show on Saturday October 8. Konkani comedy play, Bayl-Badey-Bayl’ by playwright Om Ganesh and directed by Ganesh Kandloor will be staged on Sunday October 9. The annual day celebrations of GSB Yuvaka Mandal here will be held on Monday October 10. Dr Vasudev Baburaya Pai will be the chief guest of the occasion will distribute prizes during the programme. The young men’s and women’s group of temple will present variety entertainment show at 9.00pm. The artistes of Moorumuttu theater group of Kundapura will present a comedy play, Mr Papa Pandu on Tuesday October 11.
