Manipal: Provide the opportunities to women – Hemalatha

Manipal, 09 March 2011: “Provide not just compassion, but also provide the necessary provisions and opportunities to women which they deserve” said Udupi Deputy Commissioner P. Hemalatha. She was speaking upon inaugurating the function organised to mark International Women’s Day by the Manipal Institute of Communication College.

 

Hemalatha said there had been no change in the attitude of the society towards women. Atrocities against women had not stopped. It was necessary to give priority to solving the problems faced by women. “It is wrong to have an attitude that all the problems facing women would be solved by the Government. The society should come forward and deal with it”, she said.

 

 

Meera Bindoor of Manipal University gave special lecture on the subject. Shanthi Noronha and Archana were honoured on this occasion. Dr. M. V. Kamath – Hon. Director of Manipal Institute of Communication was present. Lecturer H. S. Shubha welcomed the gathering. Director Varadesh Hiregange spoke on the occasion. Student Aparna introduced the guests.
