Udupi/M’Belle: ICYM Unit organizes rabies vaccination drive for around 600 dogs

Udupi, 15 Nov 2015: On the occasion of the World Rabies Day more than 600 dogs were administered anti-rabies vaccine in Moodubelle on Sunday, 15 November 2015. This programme was organized by the ICYM Unit of Moodubelle with the active cooperation of St. Lawrence Church and Veterinary Clinic of Padubelle.
The anti-rabies vaccination drive was inaugurated at 9 am in the presence of Rev. Fr .Clement Mascarenhas, parish priest of Moodubelle, Fr. Victor, Mrs. Ranjani Hegde and Harish Shetty, President and Vice President of Belle Grama Panchayat respectively, Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza, Alphonse Alva, vice president of parish pastoral council,Mrs. Latha D’Mello, Secretary, Devdas Hebbar, Rajendra Shety, Sudhakar, Nevil D’Souza and Ms. Feline D’Souza-President and Secretary of ICYM and Dr. Kiran, head of the Veterinary Clinic at Padubelle.
The need for the anti-rabies drive was emphasized by Dr. Prashant Shetty in his inaugural address. Rev. Fr. Clement Mascarenhas and Mrs. Ranjani Hegde also spoke on this occasion.
Nevil D’Souza welcomed the gathering, Lloyd Rebello proposed the vote of thanks and Ms. Primrose Alva compered the progamme.
After the inaugural programme, seven veterinary doctors visited 8 points where the surrounding people had brought their dogs to be vaccinated. In all more than 600 dogs were vaccinated.
This was a unique programme organized under the initiative of ICYM Moodubelle Unit.
