Udupi: Rotary and Inner-wheel Clubs of Shankerpura host ’Children’s Day’ Celebrati

Shankerpura: 07 Nov 2015: Rotary Club Shankerpura and Inner-wheel Club Shankerpura jointly hosted “ Children’s Day “ Celebration at Rotary Bhawan Shankerpura on Friday the 6th November 2015.
The event was exclusively meant for the kids of the Kushi Play School Shankerpura and Kids of Anganawadi School Shankerpura and their mothers. The celebration began with invoking God’s blessings by Rtn. Oliver Rebello. The topic of the event was “Child and Maternal Health.
Senior Rotarian and past President of the club Rtn. Antony D’Sa in his introductory address said that the Rotary is a service oriented organization and in this direction, Rotary Shankerpura has been organizing many health and welfare programs for the needy people of the area.
Mrs. Maria Pais and Mrs. Sangeeta, professors at Manipal College of Nursing were the resource persons who discussed various issues on Child and Maternal health.
The President Rtn. Clifford D’Mello welcomed the guests and offered them roses. Mrs. Leena Mendonsa, President Inner-wheel Charter while addressing the audience highlighted the significance of the Children’s Day Celebrations and remembered the first Prime Minister of India and his bond with the children.
Mrs. Vidya D’Sa head of the Kushi Play School expressed her gratitude to Rotary Shankerpura for hosting the event and later distributed Prizes to the Kushi Play School kids who won prizes in various competitions held recently.
The main sponsor of the event Ms. Geetha Crasta wished all the kids and their mothers and explained the joy in giving.
The event was presided by Rotary President Rtn. Clifford D’Mello. Rtn. Anil D’Sa proposed the vote of thanks and Rtn. Mark Vaz compeered the program.
Prof. Maria Pais and Prof. Sangeeta conducted the orientation on child and maternal health and advised valuable tips on child health.
While concluding Rotary Shankerpura distributed game items to all the kids present. Refreshment was served to all the children and their parents.
