M’luru: City Airport Customs seize foreign currencies worth over Rs 7.54 lac from Dubai-bound

Mangaluru, 23 June 2015: The customs officers at Mangaluru International Airport seized foreign currency of Saudi Arabian Riyals 18,250, UAE Dirhams 1,075, Kuwaiti Dinars 860, Qatar Riyals 3,650, Omani Riyals 735, Bahrain Dinars 55 and US $ 500 in various denominations, equivalent to INR 7,54,411 from the passenger Abdul Kader Perumbala hailing from Perumbala, Kasargod district of Kerala during his departure from Mangaluru International Airport by Air India Express flight No IX 813 to Dubai on Sunday June 21 evening.
The said passenger attempted to smuggle the abovementioned foreign currency out of India without valid money exchange documents and by concealing in his checked-in baggage.
Further investigation is under progress.
