Kuwait: BELWAK Celebrates annual feast of patron St Joseph

Kuwait, 14 Jun 2015: The parishioners of Belman Welfare Association Kuwait (BELWAK) along with their families and friends celebrated the annual parish feast (Vodlem Fest) of their patron St Joseph – The Saint of the Worker at the Don Bosco School auditorium here on Friday June 5.
 
The programme started with a brief introduction about BELWAK by James Philip D’Sa. He also introduced the compere Melvyn Mascarenhas.
 
Vimala D’Souza led the thanks giving prayer, thanked the Almighty for His abundant blessings upon this Association.
 
BELWAK president Anil Nazareth welcomed the gathering.
 
Fr Noel D’Almeida was the chief guest of the occasion.
 
Fr Noel in his message reflected on the life of St Joseph -the worker.  He applauded the efforts of BELWAK members  and briefed that the members too are workers like St Joseph and even though busy with their  daily routine, yet strive to do charitable deeds to the needy brethren back home in Belman.  He also prayed that they continue this good deed in the years to come.
 
As a token of sharing the sweetness and happiness, cake and juice was served. At the entrance of the hall traditional ‘Paan-Pod’ and  ‘God-Udhak’ was being offered for all  the guests entering the hall.
 
Joyce D’Souza presented the annual report highlighting the events and charitable work by BELWAK since its inception.

 

 

BELWAK,every year takes pride in honoring  sponsors and individuals who contribute selflessly for the celebrations of the feast.
 
Fr Noel felicitated the sponsors - Lawrence Pinto, Gilbert Crasta and Rocky D’Souza on the occasion.
 
Choreographers Sunil/Jyothi Noronha (Jovas XXLNC), Sudhi/ Lolita Fronterio (Ballerines), Alban D’Souza (Masti Group), singers Orson D’Souza and Lolita Fronteiro, Skit Groups UMK (Agnel Saldanha) and Vimala D’Souza and group, DJ Anand, photographer Alban D’Souza, compere Melvyn Mascarenhas were also felicitated.
 
The visiting guests from native Belman Philomena D’Souza, Benedicta Cardoza and Rosy Crasta (Mukamar) were honored with gifts and flowers.
 
The audience enjoyed the entertainment of various cultural activities. Foot tapping dances were performed by Jovas XXLNC for Dance  choreographed by Sunil and Jyothi Noronha, Ballerines School of Dance choreographed by Sudhi and Lolita Fronteiro and  Masti Group. Orson D’Souza GVOM 3 and Lolita Fronteiro entertained the audience with their melodious singing.
 
Hilarious rib tickling jokes were enacted by UMK group under the leadership of Agnel Saldanha and BELWAK group under the leadership of Vimala D’Souza. Besides the cultural activities there were games for children and adults and in between there were lots of spot prizes which were appreciably conducted by Melvyn.
 
James Philip D’Sa thanked one and all for their time and support to BELWAK.
 
Graces before meals was offered by Chris and Ashley D’Souza.  The Mangalorean tasty buffet was prepared by M & M Caterers. Soon after the lunch there was a game of Housie conducted by Jerome, Clifford and Melvyn.
 
Raffle draw was conducted by Clifford, Jerome, James, Jessie and Melvyn. DJ Anand entertained the crowd with his fine music.
