Bahrain: Ashel Mercin Castelino enters professional stage through ’Arangetram’

Bahrain, 24 May 2015: Dancing crazed, daughter of Arun & Alfreeda Castelino, forayed into the stage of professional Bharatnatyam performances, through an ‘Arangetram’ programme arranged in the traditionally decorated dais at The Bahrain Keraliya Samajam Hall, Manama Bahrain recently.
Ashel proved to the audience at this programme that she holds tremendous potential to become a leading Bharatnatyam exponent in the future. AshelCastelino, a student of The Asian School here, who showed immense interest in dancing since a very tender age, has been trained for five years under the tutelage of VidushiHansulGani at the dance school of Kannada Sangha here. In addition to Ashel, five other disciples of Guru Hansul, AishwaryaAravapalli(D/O Bala Muralidhar & Kalyani Arvapalli), AmnaNouushad( D/O Noushad Hameed & Saleena Noushad), Dharshini Selvakumar (D/O Selvakumar Sambandam & Jayanthi Selvakumar), Nikhitha Krishna Priya( D/O Krishna Balijepalli & Saraswathi Balijepalli), Shiny Capistan( D/O Michael J A Capistan & Viji Capistan), also participated in the ‘Arangetram’ programme.
After the customary welcome and introductory sessions, traditional lamp was lit, followed by the prayer rendered by Deepika Ramaswamy. At the programme which unfolded before the audiences a beautiful evening replete with exquisite dance moves, Ashel,Aishwarya, Amna, Darshini, Nikhitha and Shiny proved their prowess in Bharatnatyam by presenting Pushpanjali, Alaripu, Kavuthuvam, Jathisvaram, Padam, Varnam, Keerthnam, Thillana and Mangalam dances.
During the programme Dr. Fakhria Diari, Former member of Shura Council, General Manager of Alfaker for Social Health Center, Bahrain, participated as chief guest, while Guest of Honor was Ms Molly Treasa Mammen, Principal, The Asian School, Bahrain who is a leading educationalist in Bahrain, and MsLavy Joseph, Assistant Director of The Asian School Bahrain were honored by Students and their parents by presenting momentos.The dignitaries at the dais handed over mementoes and certificates to the six danseuses.
Dr. Fakhria Diari, in her speech, hailed the parents of the children for making sincere efforts towards imparting cultural heritage of their homeland among their offspring. She said dance forms like Bharatnatyam represent traditional Indian values. Molly Mammen, the guest of honour encouraged the children and hoped that the girls will hone their skills further and bring laurels to their country of origin as well as Bahrain.
MrsAlfreedaCastelino, one of the chosen mother of the student thanked all those, who were responsible for making this event a grand success.
The Complete programe was beautifully conducted by the famouse Master of ceremonies MrsPrajisha Anan, teacher at the The Indian School , Bahrain.
