Mangaluru: Good Friday observed in Milagres Church

Mangaluru, 03 Apr 2015: Good Friday, marking the crucifixion of Jesus Christ was observed across undivided Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district on Friday, April 3 with special prayers in churches.

 

The day-long prayers, commemorating the sufferings and crucifixion of Jesus Christ were held in various churches across the coastal belt. Devotees congregated in large numbers in churches where church priest led special prayers to mark the day.

 

          

          

          

 

In most places, processions were taken out with devotees bearing wooden crosses depicting the final hours of Jesus, from his condemnation to placing the body in the tomb after his crucifixion on Mount Golgotha.

 

The faithful observed fasts as a way of renunciation of earthly comforts on Good Friday.

 

Special sermons on salvation and partaking in the ’Lord’s Supper’ marked the celebration of the holy week which began last Sunday (also called palm Sunday) and will culminate the coming Sunday.
