Udupi/M’Belle: St. Lawrence Parish celebrates Annual Feast with devotion and fervour

Udupi/M’Belle, 07 Jan 2015: St. Lawrence Parishioners of Moodubelle celebrated their solemn annual feast with devotion and fervour on Wednesday, 7 January 2015 at 10 am. Rev. Fr. Ronald Serrao, former Assistant Parish Priest of the parish and presently professor in St. Joseph’ Seminary, Mangaluru was the chief celebrants of the solemn feast mass. Rev. Fr. Fred Mascarenhas-Dean of Udupi Varado, Rev. Fr. Valerian D’Souza-former parish priest, Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes-present parish priest and a number of priests from the Uudpi Varado and other guest priests including those from Belle serving in other dioceses in India and abroad participated in the celebration of the solemn feast mass.
In his homily, Rev. Fr. Ronald Serrao pointed out that this year has been dedicated by Pope Francis as the Year of the Religious and said that the religious and priests have been at the service of Jesus and the Church. Narrating the life and martyrdom of St. Lawrence, Fr. Ronald said that St. Lawrence dedicated and sacrificed his life for the sake of Christ and the Church.
At the end of the festive mass, Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes on behalf of himself and the priests extended the warm greetings of the annual feast and expressed gratitude to all those who have been helping in running the administration and various service activities of the parish.
The Telephone Directory of the Parish compiled by the ‘Suvaad’ Editorial Board was released by Rev. Fr. Ronald Serrao.
Prior to the solemn feast mass, Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes distributed the candles of honour to the resident priests, superior of the Loreto Convent, Parish Council office bearers, Gurkars, representatives, mud-dhoms and the sponsors of the annual feast.
Besides, the spiritual aspect of the annual feast, the premises of the church presented the picture of fair with various stalls being put up right from those selling religious articles, books and musical CDs to those stalls selling varieties of sweets, toys, artificial flowers and eatables.
The ICYM volunteers had put up a stall for funny and lucky games.
