Kundapur: Congress acknowledges contributions of Indira & Sardar Patel for nation building

Kundapur, 02 Nov 2014: The former PM Indira Gandhi and the first home minister in Nehru’s cabinet Iron Man Sardar Vallababai Patel whose foresight, strong conviction and efficient management has gained world recognition. Both prominent Congress leaders Indira Gandhi and Vallababai Patel have immensely contributed for the nation, said district Congress vice president B Hiriyanna.
Hiriyanna was speaking during the death anniversary of Indira Gandhi and birth anniversary of Sardar Vallababai Patel during the function held at block Congress office, here on Friday October 31.
The block Congress president Malyady Shivaram Shetty in his presidential address said that Indira Gandhi has taken the nation to progressive path by nationalization of banks, framing Land Tribunal Act, 20-point programmes and several social welfare programmes, while the first home minister Sardar Vallababai Patel has taken stern decision for the peaceful living of future citizen of India, said Shetty.
The veteran Congressmen Jacob D’Souza, Shivanand K, Ranganat Bhat, Buddaraj Shetty, Vittal Kanchan, town Congress president Ganesh Sheregar, vice president Chandrashekar Shetty, Sridar Sheregar, Prabhakar Kodi, Shakuntala Gulwady, Devaki Sannayya, Chandra Amin, Shivaram Putran, Keshav Bhat, Vidhyadar K V, Asha Carvalho, Shobha Sacchidanand, Sandesh Kodi and others were present.
The block Congress secretary Narayan Achar welcomed the gathering. The town Congress secretary Vinod Crasta proposed vote of thanks.
