Karkal: Deepavali fosters communal harmony & brotherhood - Savita Kotian

Karkal, Oct 22, 2014: The festivals are helpful to foster communal harmony and patriotism among the students in their early schooling. Deepavali is the festival of lights fosters communal harmony among the people of different faith, caste and creed in the society, said ZP president Savita Kotian.
Savita was speaking during the felicitation of national awardee teachers during Deepavali Sambrama – 2014 held at St Joseph’s Higher Primary School, Belman, near here on Tuesday October 21.
Deepavali honor was accorded to Sr Moura who bagged National Best Teacher Award 32 years ago while serving as head teacher of St Joseph’s Higher Primary School, Belman, here, Nandalike School senior teacher K Laxmikant Bhat who bagged National Best Teacher Award during 2014, and Karkal taluk award recipient Belman – Punarukare School teacher Devdas Patkar on the same occasion.
Bhallirenayya, Yakshagana bulletin editor veteran Yakshagana artiste Taranat Varkady, delivered the Deepavali greetings.
ZP member Supreet Shetty, Nandalike Suhas Hegde, entrepreneur S K Salian, Rotary Club - Belman president K Suresh Rao, Lions Club president and NHRC district president Inna Udaykumar Shetty, Jaycees president Sarvajna Tantri, Belman parish council vice president Gregory Menezes, Belman gram panchayat member Prabhakar Shetty, Bro Arun D’Souza, high school head teacher Renilda Pereira, convent superior Sr Usha Stella, senior teacher Juliana Moras were present at the dais.
The students presented variety cultural shows as part of Deepavali celebrations.
B Pundalika Marate and Usha couple who were celebrating their silver jubilee wedding anniversary honored on the same occasion.
