Bangalore: KONCAB ’Yuva Milan - 2014’ ignited the minds of Konkani Youth

Bangalore, 15 Sep 2014: The latest flagship of KONCAB, started from last year 2013, to become an annual affair – “Yuvamilan 2014” was organized this year on 14th September at Kross Hall, Near Da Costa Layout, St.Thomas Town ,Bangalore. There were Konkani youths from different parts of Bangalore.
The program commenced with a short prayer following which the President of Koncab Mrs. Ida Sequeira officially inaugurated the program and addressed the gathering. Mr. Vernon Dsouza ignited a interactive session which kept the youth on their feet.
Following this, Rev Fr. Sunil D’Souza, a budding professor of Canon Law at the St. Peter’s Pontifical Seminary who was the guest mentor at the program, addressed the youth on their capabilities, in building their own lives as well as the nation. He also touched on topics relating to the fascinations and inclinations of today’s youth and their expectations from life and also the relevance to pick right from wrong. There was an interesting debate session among the youth who were allowed to share their thoughts and ideas on the public and private lives of the present day youth.
Following this Mr. Chris Bernard, Principal at the KROSS Center for Career Advancement Programs (CAP) held a session, emphasizing on the need for the Christian youth to join into the Civil Services and Public Commissions Cadre. He placed on record the achievements of some of the IAS & IPS officers from the community who have made history in their own capacities. He also gave the youth a comparison between choosing a career in Civil Services as against the IT life that most youth are drawn to. It was overall, a very interesting and useful session to the youth in making a decision about a choice on career building. Rev Fr. Peter Brank – Director of KROSS also has an afterword on the CAP (Career Advancement Programme) and concluded the session. Koncab is ever indebted to Rev. Fr. Peter for his support and guidance to organize the event.
Dr. Tony Lucas, an officer with the Civil Defence Wing of the Karnataka Police Department urged the youth to join the force, thus giving a helping hand, during emergencies to the Police Department in particular, and a voluntary contribution to the society at large.
The program ended with a Vote of thanks by Mr. Jhonas D’Souza, Secretary of Koncab. Mr. Godwin Castelinto, the event manager of Yuvamilan 2014, was also the compere and was assisted by Mr. Roshan Fernandes, Mr. Kevin Pinto and Mr. Vinu Suares in making this event a grand success.
