Udupi, 03 Oct: Milagres College, Kallianpur, observed Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, 2024, with a Campus Cleaning Drive organized by the NSS Unit. The program commenced with a formal ceremony, graced by Chief Guest Dr. Jayaram Shettigar, Associate Professor of History. NSS Officers Mr. Ganesh Nayak and Mrs. Shubhalatha, along with NSS Unit leaders, paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi’s photograph, followed by a soulful prayer song.
Dr. Shettigar addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of Gandhi Jayanti and the Swachhata drive. He shared inspiring anecdotes from Gandhi’s life, emphasizing cleanliness, community service, and social responsibility. His words motivated the volunteers to embody Gandhi’s values.
Subsequently, over 120 NSS volunteers and leaders were divided into five teams, each assigned specific areas for cleaning. With enthusiasm and dedication, they cleaned the academic blocks, library, Miyawaki forest and surroundings. The collective effort transformed the campus, reflecting the unit’s commitment to sustainability and civic engagement.
The Campus Cleaning Drive demonstrated the NSS Unit’s dedication to promoting cleanliness, hygiene, and community service.
