Bangalore, 27 September 2010: Two days after reshuffling and expanding the Cabinet, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa gave `25 lakh from the state fund to Tirumala temple board.
Deputy chairman of the State Planning Commission, Ramachandra Gowda - who along with ministers R Ashok and Katta Subramanya Naidu - has accompanied the chief minister to Tirumala, disclosed this to Express over phone on Friday.
He said Yeddyurappa had deposited the sum on behalf of the state government in Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Board in a scheme titled Sree Vaari Nitya Annadanam.
"The interest accrued from the amount deposited is to be used by the temple authorities to serve food to the pilgrims every day," Gowda said.
The BJP leaders left for Tirumala on Friday afternoon and reached the temple in the evening.
Yeddyurappa will inspect the Karnataka choultry on Saturday before leaving the templetown for city.
