Independence Day observed in St. Lawrence Parish, Moodubelle

Udupi/M’Belle, 15 Aug 2023: The 76th Independence Day was observed in the premises of the St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle on Tuesday, 15 August soon after the 7.30 am festal Mass of the Assumption of Our Lady into Heaven. Fr. George D’Souza, Parish Priest of Moodubelle offered the festal Mass.

 

Soon after the Mass, the parishioners gathered in front of the church where the flag post was erected. Prior to the unfurling of the National Flag, the choir members sang the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ Fr. Pradeep Cardoza, Assistant Parish Priest following an introductory message requested Fr. George D’Souza to unfurl the National Flag. As Fr. George D’Souza unfurled the National Flag, all the parishioners saluted the National Flag and sang the National Anthem “Jana Gana Mana”.

 

 

Delivering the Independence Day Message, Pritish Burton D’Sa-Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC)narrated the progress that Independent India has been making since independence for the last 76 years. He highlighted the chief features of Indian Constitution that guarantee freedom to the citizens of the nation. He appealed the parishioners to be proud of our nation and at the same time to safeguard the freedom that is enshrined in the Constitution.

 

Charles Quadros, Secretary of the PPC was present on this occasion.

 

Fr. Pradeep Cardoza proposed the vote of thanks and compered the programme.
