Uppinanagady, 22 September 2010: At least 70 students of the government school in Bajattur village of the taluk took ill after having mid-day meals on Wednesday.
Students complained of vomiting and stomach ache immediately after meals. They were immediately brought to Community Health Centre in Uppinangady for first aid and later shifted to government hospital and two private hospitals in Puttur. Twenty students had recovered by evening.
The students told Deccan Herald that the rice was smelly and they started to vomit immediately after having the food. Puttur Assistant Commissioner and police officers visited the school.
