Udupi, 17 Aug 2018: ‘Whatever God has bestowed on mankind is our duty to preserve. It’s essential to conserve nature and develop for the sake of future generation. The conservation of nature will sustain us that should be continuous process. The sustenance of nature lies in promoting environment,’ said Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo of Udupi.
Bishop Dr Lobo was speaking after inaugurating Vanamahotsav and distribution of plants that was organized as part of Envornment Week jointly organized by district administration, Udupi catholic diocese, Lions district 317C, St Mary’s College and Don Bosco Group of education institutions, Shriva, near here, at Don Bosco English Medium School, on Thursday, August 16.
Lions district governor Tallur Shivaram Shetty was the chief guest said, ‘Lions district has embarked on planting and nurturing 1 lac trees, in order to avoid nature fury and increase oxygen in the atmosphere,’ said Shivaram.
The conservator of forests Prakaschandra administered oath to students to create Green Karnataka.
Lions district designated governor N M Hegde Belman, Lions Club president Dr Nerri Cornelio, Lions district PRO Sunil Kumar Shetty, ZP member Wilson Rodrigues, Shirva parish council vice president Wilson D’Souza, assistant parish priest Fr Ashwin Aranha, Don Bosco School principal Fr Mahesh D’Souza and others were present.
Our Lady of Health – Shirva parish priest and correspondent of St Mary’s group of education institutions Fr Denis D’Sa welcomed the gathering. Lions Club – Shirva past president J Rodrigues proposed vote of thanks. Rajani compered the programme.
