Udupi, 22 Jan 2018: SCDCC Bank’s Shirva branch, near here that was established 40 years ago was shifted to basement floor of Bahrain Tower, owned by Sridar Poojary, on Monday, January 22.
SCDCC Bank chairman M N Rajendra Kumar after inaugurated the relocated branch said, ‘The new branch is fully air conditioned, single window for various banking services with core banking. The co-operative sector is known for better service has indeed contributed for women empowerment,’ said Rajendra.
He further said, ‘SCDCC Bank has 102 branches, while the newly-relocated Shirva branch is the first to get air condition facility in the entire rural branches. It has deposits of Rs 23.5 crore and advanced loans to the tune of Rs 7.72 crore. It offers loans to Navodaya SHGs at 0 percent interest. Karnataka government announced loan waver of 50 percent, while it has been plead with the state administration to approve the same to those who had already repaid their loans,’ said Rajendra.
In his presidential address, Kaup former MLA Vinayakumar Sorake said that co-operative sector has empowered rural women to lead dignified living. The state administration has allocated Rs 8164 crore to co-operative sector for loan waiver. Besides Udupi district got Rs 114 crore in 4 years by way of subsidy @ Rs 5 per liter for milk producers. The nation will progress by helping the economically weaker in the society.
Sorake also said, ‘Proposal has been forwarded to state administration to open revenue centers at Shirva, Pudubidri and Hiriyadka to the newly-announced Kaup taluk centre.’
Shirva Agricultural Service Co-operative Society chairman Gregory Conrad Castelino, veterans of co-operative movement Krishnaraj Saralaya and Jayakar Shetty Indrali, Shirva gram panchayat presient Varija Poojary, ZP member Wilson Rodrigues, TP member Geeta Wagle, Laxminarayan Rao Udupi, M Vadiraj Shetty, Sadashiv Karkera, B Rajesh Rao, Ramesh Shetty, Shivaji S Suvarna and others were present at the dais.
