Mangaluru, 31 Oct 2017: A top-level delegation led by Mangaluru south MLA J R Lobo on Monday, October 30 left to Lakshadeep, to hold talks with the government in order to resume trade with Old Port in Mangaluru.
Lakshadeep continues trade with Kerala as Old Port in Mangaluru faces berthing difficulties for its cargo vessels. Meanwhile, MLA Lobo-led delegation will hold talks with the officials at Lakshadeep to resume their trade with Old Port, Mangaluru.
MLA Lobo said, ‘An exclusive jetty will be constructed at Old Port, Mangaluru at a cost of Rs 70 crore, to facilitate berthing of cargo vessels of Lakshadeep.’
He also said, ‘Lakshadeep MP is keen on talks in this regard. If the dialogue with them becomes fruitful, the normal trade will resume with Old Port, Mangaluru.’
