Mangaluru, 25 Aug 2017: The renowned Yakshagana artiste Purandara is living in a tent besides the road, here. Meanwhile, Patla Satish Shetty, Bhagavat of Durgaparameshwari temple managed Yakshagana troupe, Kateel, here extended his helping hand to help the fellow artiste in difficulty.
Purandara served in troupes of Kateel, Sunkadakatte and other well known Yakshgana troupes for 24 years.
Now Purandara is 58-years-old and no more able to work as Yakshagana artiste because of aching feet and does not know any other jobs. He is living in a tent besides the road at Kunjatbail, here.
His sister Sasikala also lives with him in the same tent. They were living in a rented house, but driven to the street as they can no longer able to pay the rents. Sasikala is supporting Purandara by doing odd jobs at nearby households.
Their tent has no any basic amenities and any stubborn heart would melt away by viewing the state of a once top class Yakshagana artiste.
Patla Satish Shetty consulted the office bearers of Yakshadruva Patla Foundation® that was founded to support the ailing Yakshagana artistes and decided to construct a house for Purandara.
Patla Foundation general secretary Purushottam Bhandary Adyar, treasurer Sudesh Kumar, Ravi Shetty Ashok Nagar and others were present.
