Udupi, 19 Aug 2017: NSS unit and Rovers – Rangers of St Mary’s College, Shirva, near here, hosted Swacch Bharat Abhiyan – peoples’ awareness programme on open defecation-free as part of Independence Day Week on Tuesday, August 15.
The students held mega rally from the College to petrol pump, at Shirva, here on Tuesday morning.
St Mary’s College vice principal Professor Gopalakrishna Samaga flagged-off the rally.
Shirva gram panchayat president Varija Poojarti administered oath of Swacch Bharat to the students and gram panchayat members.
Shirva PDO Malati in her preliminary address said that youth play key role in realizing the dream of Swacch Shirva.
NSS volunteer Hanumanta G K also spoke on the occasion.
NSS officer Professor Ajit D’Mello, Professor Nirmita Kumari, Rovers–Rangers officers Professor Prakash, Professor Sangeeta and Professor Sushma, Shirva gram panchayat vice president Devdas Nayak, panchayat members, lecturers were present.
