Thousands of students and their parents staged protest at B C Road, here, on Friday morning, against discontinuing aid by the state government to Sri Rama Vidya Kendra, Kalladka, near here, and Sri Devi School, Punacha, near here, that were adopted by Mookambika Temple, Kollur, Udupi district.
The protesters alleged the role of district-in-charge minister Ramanath Rai in discontinuing the aids to schools that was uninterrupted since the past 10 years.
The protesters said why the aid was discontinued only to 2 schools out of a total of 52 schools that get funds from Mookambika temple, Kollur. They alleged that the state administration is playing on the life of poor students of different communities who study at the school.
The protesters led by Panipa M, Shobha, Ashaprasad, Devika and others presented a memorandum to restore the aid with Tahsildar to forward the same to Indian Presidnet, Karnatkaa Governor and Karnatkaa CM Siddaramaiah.
